Matthew L. Byrnes

For more than 20 years, Matt Byrnes has advised high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners on how to protect and grow their wealth through independent consultative risk management. As the Managing Partner of Byrnes Associates, he leads a firm dedicated to putting clients first—delivering unbiased, customized solutions across a broad marketplace of options. The result is clients who can confidently transfer risk, secure their future, and make a broader impact.

Matt began his career in New York working with Unum as an Enrollment Manager. There he implemented voluntary benefits for brokers, clients, and businesses. Then in 2015, came home to work with Oswald Companies, where for more than a decade and half he worked with professionals, business owners, civic, and community leaders. There, he built expertise in Life Insurance, Disability Income Protection, Executive Benefits, and Long-Term Care, and became known for providing holistic strategies tailored to the needs of each client. That experience laid the foundation for Byrnes Associates, created to provide independence and flexibility in addressing client needs.

Today, Matt specializes in designing strategies that safeguard people, assets, and operations while preparing the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs for long-term success.

Matt is a graduate of Denison University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. He holds the Certified Exit Planning Designation (CExP), Group Benefits Disability Specialist (GBDS), and Voluntary Benefit Services (VBS) designations. He is actively
engaged in numerous community and non-profit initiatives and serves on the  Greater Cleveland Steak Club Foundation.

Matt lives in Shaker Heights with his wife, Eliza, and their three daughters, Blaire, Lila, and Annie. Outside of work, he enjoys family time, giving back to the  community, golf, and travel.
